Fashion Top Grain Care Solutions
Top grain leather is renowned for its strength, breathability and timeless beauty, making it the material of choice for premium handbags, shoes, belts, and jackets. Historically, animal hides provided warmth and protection, evolving from basic pouches for storing fruits to sophisticated leather goods.
The key distinctions between furniture and fashion top grain finishes lies in the emphasis on achieving tactile and aesthetic qualities, as well as the use of more delicate skins such as those from sheep and lamb. While sheep and lamb skins are known for their softness due to their lower fibre density, goat skin offers greater tear resistance because of its lower fat content.
Our care solutions for fashion top grain leathers are meticulously curated to preserve their luxurious appearance and extend their durability for years to come. Whether you need protection, regular maintenance, or restoration, we are here to support your journey of enjoyment with these exquisite leather pieces.

For protection, we offer specialised treatment services that include an antioxidant infusion to prevent premature aging, essential nutrients to revitalise leather, and a UV filter to guard against fading.
To further enhance protection, these leathers can be waterproofed, offering superior defense against stains and liquid damages. This protection preserves the exceptional tactile and aesthetic qualities that make porous leathers so desirable.

We provide curated cleaning services tailored for both porous and non-porous top grain leathers. For porous leather, we use gentle cleaners formulated with a special membrane that prevents water damage during cleaning, allowing us to repeat cleaning process for optimal result.
For non-porous leathers, we select pH-balanced plant-based cleaners that are incorporated with moisture and clean with leather brush.
This ensures an effective yet safe cleaning procedure that minimises the risk of accelerated colour loss while maintaining the leather’s natural beauty and longevity.

For porous leathers, deep stains are challenging to remove, and successful recovery is often limited. With colour restoration, the outcome largely depends on the leather ability to absorb the new pigments. Discolouration may see improvement with careful colour adjustment, through results can vary.
For non-porous leathers, colour restoration offers a better chance of recovery. However, stains caused by substances like body lotion or hair cream can be particularly stubborn. While we can restore colour, the durability and quality of the repair may be compromised over time due to the nature these greases.
-
With regular wear and tear, top grain leather can experience fading. The good news is that faded areas on top grain leather can often be readjusted to restore their original appearance.
For tears and repairs, especially on porous leather, repair may remain visible. In these cases, the priority should be should be on stabilising the damage while retaining the leather’s tactile quality.
When deciding between restoration and replacement, consider both cost-effective and cost-efficient solutions. Sometimes, reupholstering or replacing the leather may be more practical and economical than restoration, which can be labour-intensive and costly.

Split and artificial leathers, particularly after about five years of use, are prone to peeling and cracking. Unfortunately, repairing these materials is often not a long-lasting solution, as the repairs may not hold up well and other areas of the leather may soon begin to peel or crack. In such cases, replacing the leather is usually a more cost-effective and practical option.
